The powerful Telangana Rising delegation led by Prime Minister A. Revanth Reddy successfully convinced major investors attending the World Economic Forum meeting in Davos to invest in the state, explaining the state government’s proactive policies and potential benefits.

The Prime Minister, since his arrival in Davos, participated in a series of meetings with renowned companies, explaining to them the vision and roadmap of his government’s drive to make Telangana a $3 trillion economy in 20 years. Impressed by the presentation, several companies, including Google, Unilever and others, made investment commitments and entered into a memorandum of understanding with the state government.

One of the biggest investment guarantees came from renowned ductile iron pipe manufacturer Rashmi Group, which proposed a steel plant with an investment of ₹12,500 crore that could generate 12,000 direct and indirect jobs. Another major achievement of the delegation was the establishment of a Global Capability Center (GCC) by L’Oréal, a global leader in beauty, makeup and cosmetics, in the city. While GCCs specializing in medical technology and other areas are a common feature, L’Oréal has come up with the idea of setting up a first-of-its-kind GCC dealing exclusively with beauty technology.

The Chief Minister had a fruitful interaction with the Chairman of domestic giant Tata Group, Natarajan Chandrasekaran, and explained to him about the investor- and industry-friendly atmosphere in the state and the proactive long-term policies ushered in for the overall development of the state. The Telangana government was not only concerned with attracting investments but also taking steps to introduce a vision for the future of the state.

The Tata Group accordingly expressed interest in working with the Telangana government in developing world-class sports infrastructure, including modernization of the existing stadiums. Mr. Chandrasekaran opined that there was an abundance of talent available in the country and there was a need to set up basic infrastructure to hone these skills.

The Telangana Rising delegation will also meet representatives of various industry groups on Thursday and push hard for investments based on its vision and roadmap for development over the next two decades.
