With property prices skyrocketing across Australia, there’s no shortage of prestigious homes with luxurious living spaces, resort-style pools and lavish bathrooms.

But harder to find are luxury garages to show off – and secure – a prized car collection.

Michael Bacon, director of Place Kangaroo Point, said while luxury garages were somewhat rare, they were in demand.

“It’s a shop window,” he said.

“When you have expensive cars in a nice garage, it’s like exhibiting art in a gallery.

“You want the right light, the right floor.

“Privacy and security are also very important, but also insulation, climate control and charging options.”

Mr Bacon said that while the shrinking size of housing blocks combined with rising construction costs made it harder for homeowners to finance a large garage, there were clear benefits to having a luxury garage space.

“When people spend a lot of money on a big house, they expect at least four to five parking garages with enough height for larger cars,” he says.

“And storing cars off-site can be a pain; you don’t want to have to travel to pick up a car for the weekend.

“We are also seeing people integrating gyms and wellness centers into these spaces – such as the property at 55 Stella Place, Bonogin – to create high-end man caves.”

Here’s a look at some of the best garages to hit the Australian property market this year.

In addition to the 10-bedroom, 11-bathroom home of 2,240 sq ft on three levels, a master bedroom with retractable ceiling and a whiskey bar, there is a 2,300 sq ft garage for nine cars.

This space with a glass facade has 52 special spotlights, LED logo screens, epoxy floors, integrated climate control and a special racing simulator room.
