Reuters Eic Galloni about reporting, career – Talking Biz News

Russell Sherman of the podcast “Press profiles” interviewed Alessandra GalloniThe editor -in -chief of Reuters, about her career.

Galloni previously worked at the Wall Street Journal, as well as the Associated Press and Reuters, with economic indicators for the local language service in Italy.

She joined the magazine in 2001 after she had treated a British car company that was purchased by a private equity company. “I got scoops, so I was noticed by the London Bureau Chief,” she said. “That is what noticed me.”

She stayed in the magazine for 12 years before she returned to Reuters. She mentions her time in the journal for improving her stories and taking care of sources.

Galloni became the first editor -in -chief of Reuters when she was appointed in 2021. She leads 2500 journalists and 600 photojournalists at 200 locations around the world, and it has 100 million monthly readers.

“Something always happens all over the world,” Galloni said. “And there is always someone who gets a great scoop.”

She said that no story is worth a life and noticed that three Reuters journalists have died in the past decade. Galloni makes the final decision to send an employee to what the news organization calls a “red” assignment.

“The courage of our journalists everywhere is incredible,” she said.
