Apple usually releases its premium and flagship iPhones in September, but this year will be a little different. Instead, the iPhone 18 isn’t expected to debut until spring 2027.
Those waiting for the iPhone 18 Pro won’t have to wait quite as long, however, as that model and the iPhone 18 Pro Max are expected to keep the usual September launch window. MacRumors quotes one “growing number of reports” suggesting that 2026 will be the first year that Apple will deviate from its usual release pace.
Apple is thought to be shaking things up in an attempt to deal with the increasingly complicated logistics surrounding iPhone launches.
Supply chain analysts have also pointed to manufacturing and logistics benefits as a factor behind the rumored shift. By staggering launches, Apple could reduce production bottlenecks, better manage the supply of components for advanced technologies and ease revenue recognition across budget quarters rather than concentrating iPhone sales in one period.

It is also thought that Apple will introduce the first foldable iPhone in September. The iPhone 18 and iPhone 18e will probably be released in the spring of 2027 for those who prefer a more budget-friendly device.
