Renault has now introduced the fourth generation Twingo, based on the model facelift the third generation in 2019 that also appeared in 2020 with the fully electric variant Twingo ZE. For this new generation, the Twingo appeared from the first development phase as a fully BEV model, built on the Renault AmpR Small platform.
Renault explained that the Twingo E-Tech Electric uses the same front axle configuration as the Renault 5 and Renault 4 E-Tech Electric, while the rear axle multilink on both models was replaced by the rear axle used on the Captur.
The electric powertrain consists of a 60 kW (82 hp) and 175 Nm motor, supported by a 27.5 kWh LFP battery, which provides a driving range of up to 263 km according to the WLTP standard.

In terms of performance, the Twingo E-Tech Electric accelerates from 0 to 50 km/h in 3.85 seconds, while acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h takes 12.1 seconds before reaching a top speed of 130 km/h. For charging, it supports standard 6.6 kW AC charging, which takes approximately four hours and 15 minutes to charge from 10% to 100%.
The optional Advanced Charge package increases AC capacity to 11 kW, reducing charging time to two hours and 35 minutes. DC fast charging up to 50 kW can also be used, allowing 10-80% charging in 30 minutes. The optional package also adds V2L and V2G functionality via an 11 kW AC two-way charger.
In terms of dimensions, the Twingo E-Tech Electric is 3,789 mm long, 1,720 mm wide and 1,491 mm high, with a wheelbase of 2,493 mm and a ground clearance of 143 mm. Total weight is 1,200kg. Luggage space is 360 liters with the rear seats upright, or over 1,000 liters when folded. An additional 50 liters of additional underfloor storage space is also provided via a two-way opening that remains accessible even when the main cargo area is filled with goods.

The model also offers two sliding rear seats that can be adjusted up to 170mm, so users can choose whether to maximize passenger legroom or cargo space – for one or both seats.
The Twingo E-Tech Electric is offered in two variants in Europe: Evolution and Techno. The Evolution variant comes with 16-inch wheels with rim caps and safety features such as AEB, Lane Keep Assist, Driver Monitoring, automatic parking brake and rear distance sensor.
The Techno variant comes with 16-inch two-tone wheel covers, OpenR multimedia system with built-in Google (Google Maps, Google Assistant and Google Play), adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go function, automatic air conditioning, one-pedal steering, electrically folding side mirrors, folding front passenger seat, reversing camera, automatic high beams, automatic wipers and a six-speaker audio system.
Both variants come with a 7-inch instrument display and a 10-inch center screen with functions mirror smartphone. Customers can also choose to upgrade the wheels to 18-inch alloy wheels, with tire size 195/60R16 or 205/45R18.
Manufactured at Renault’s plant in Novo Mesto, Slovenia, the Twingo E-Tech Electric is expected to go on sale in Europe early next year with a starting price of less than EUR 20,000 (approximately RM95,788).
