Clement, 51, was sacked by Rangers in February and has been out of the game since. He has spent the past nine months weighing his options and is now back in the dugout at Carrow Road.

Sutton has expressed his opinion on the appointment, according to a report from BBC Sports: “Norwich have a manager with a lot of experience. At the moment Norwich are in a relegation phase. He is the type of manager who comes in, assesses what he has and doesn’t play fantasy football. He will be quite pragmatic in the way he plays and I think that is a good thing. At Rangers his team has been quite direct at times. At the moment it is about Norwich trying to build some confidence within the squad in the early days and going from there.”

Norwich City are back in action this weekend after the international break. NCFC face a tricky away match against Birmingham City and their upcoming opponents are four points away from the play-offs under Chris Davies.

The Canary Islands lost 2-1 at home to Leicester City last time. Striker Mathias Kvistgaarden, who featured in the last transfer window, scored against the Foxes but they couldn’t get anything out of the game and that result proved to be the final straw for Manning.

They find themselves in the drop zone together with Sheffield United and Sheffield Wednesday after their first fifteen games. Four points separate them from Oxford United and safety in 21st position.

Norwich City fans will have their fingers crossed that Clement can inspire them to find a new manager. They could do with some form over the festive period, especially with the games now starting to come quickly.
