Reds Top Brouwers to keep control over their Playoff -Hoop – Redleg Nation

The Cincinnati Reds knew that they had to win on Saturday to keep pace with the New York Mets and they did exactly that. Cincinnati used a 6-run 3rd inning to overthrow the Milwaukee Brewers on American Family Field to keep control over their Playoff-Lot on their way to the last day of the regular season.

In the first half of the 1st inning, the Reds would attract two men with two, but Sal Stewart hit the end of the threat. In the next inning, Cincinnati got two men without outs, but could not bring a run over the record.

The third time is a charm, that’s how the saying goes. Noelvi Marte reached safely on a throw error to start the 3rd inning. Miguel Andujar then followed a double to put two men in a score position. This time Sal Stewart came through when he was in the middle a single backup to give the Reds a 1-0 lead. A 2-out walk from Tyler Stephenson would load the bases and lead to a pitching change.

Milwaukee called on Jacob Misiorowski to try to get out of the jam. Ke’bryan Hayes did not hit the ball hard, but sometimes things just train and his grounder that went around 65 feet, found the right place on the inner field to go down as an RBI basis to keep the collection alive. Matt McLain ran to bring another point to bring the score to 3-0. Then TJ Friedl hit a single in the right field to bring in two more but the throw in the Infield missed everyone and that allowed a third point to climb over the plate on the piece when the Reds made the score at 6-0.

However, the brewers were not ready to just roll, and they started the bottom of the inning with a single and a double. Milwaukee would get a groundout on the board. Andrew Abbott was centimeters removed from the inning with only one run allowed, but Brice Turang’s flight ball along the left field line hit the end of Spencer Steer’s glove in the corner and entered the error area for an RBI-Double that made it 6-2. A groundout would follow to strands the runner.

Neither of the teams would do a lot in the next two innings, but the Reds would tackle a run in the first half of the 6th inning. With two out, Sal Stewart hit a solo-home run to the right-hand center where it landed in the Bullpen Cincinnati. When the bottom of the 6th inning began, Stewart was replaced when the Reds sent Will Benson to the left field and send Spencer to first base. The defense could not do anything when the game started when Jackson Chouio finished the inning with a home run to the middle to get the run back for Milwaukee because they made the score at 7-3. Abbott recovered with a groundout, but that ended his day.

Connor Phillips would take over in the inning, but he ran the first batter he saw on four throws and then hit the next batter to turn two men with one. Phillips would get a fly to the right field, but Jake Bauers came from the couch and hit a soft line drive to the left to bring a run and make it 7-4. That was enough for Terry Francona to see and he walked to the hill to change another pitching – this time Graham brought in ashcraft to try to extinguish the fire. He ran Danny Jansen on eight throws to load the bases and bring the go-ahead run to the plate. Ashcraft came back two throws later and received an easy grounder to first base to end the inning and to maintain a 3-run lead.

Nick Martinez took over for Cincinnati in the 7th and he shot two scoreless innings to keep the score 7-4. After the Reds had gone at the top of the 9th without run, Emilio Pagan entered the game from the bullpen to try to close things. Petter for the fourth day in a row, Pagan got the job with a 1-2-3 inning to seal the victory.

Important moment of the game

The RBI Single of TJ Friedl in the 3rd inning that the bases has cleaned up, partly thanks to a Brewers error. Those three runs have closed a 6-run inning that applied the Reds forever.

Notes worth mentioning

The magic number for the Reds is one. If they win on Sundays or if the Mets lose on Sundays, then Cincinnati is in the Play -Offs. Both teams play at 3.10 pm et.

The victory gives the Reds a series of victory over the Brewers. They had lost the previous 13 series to Milwaukee, dating from 2022.

Miguel Andujar had a 3-hit day. He now has .374/.415/.566 since he arrives at the Reds at the Handelsdeadline (33 competitions).

Sal Stewart and Matt McLain also had multi-hit days, with McLain also ran twice.

The Brewers achieved the home field advantage in the Playoffs of the National League during the game when the Phillies lost. Maybe that will change how they do their game on Sunday if they try to set up things for the play -offs.
