The Reds threatened against Shohei Ohtani early when Spencer Steer and Jose Trevino went back-to-back walks and went on two wild fields to create a situation with runners in second and third place with only one in the second inning. Ohtani, however, eliminated Ke’bryan Hayes and Matt McLain to put an end to that threat.

Noelvi Marte received the Reds on the scoreboard with a solo -home run from an Ohtani 93.2 MPH Cutter in the third. That would be the size of their attack in this game. On the hill during the night of his Bobblehead campaign in the Dodger Stadium, Ohtani only allowed one point on two hits and two free walks with nine strikeouts through five innings. On the record he let the first of the Dodgers of Nick Lodolo to lead the fourth inning, which would eventually be the start of the score for Los Angeles.

With one out in the fourth, Andy Pages and Teoscar Hernández reached Blasting Singles to the right field. Enrique Hernández then struck the center, just out of the reach of Matt McLain. Lodolo got Controrto to step at first base, but the Reds deliberately walked down Miguel Rojas. Dalton Rushing had them pay for it, challenging the middle to score two more Dodger runs and extend the lead to 4-1.

Despite the fourth inning, Lodolo looked really good on his return from the injured list. He first rolled through the Dodgers -Line -up, including the side of the side in the second inning. Unfortunately, because of the bloop -hits and seeing eye latters in the fourth, his pitching line shows that he has given up four points out of five hits by only 4.2 innings. He ended his outing with six strikeouts and only one walk allowed.

The Reds threatened in the seventh when they loaded the bases with two after a few singles by Jose Trevino and Matt Mclain. Justin Wobleski ran on four straight pitches with TJ Friedl to load the bases, but Marte waved at the first throw he saw and stood to the third Honkman Hernández to end the inning. The Reds would again threaten in the eighth when Trevino came on the record when the tie with two out, but he spread against Dodgers-Werger Edgardo Henriquez, who is not allowed a run since he was called just after the All-Star break.

The Dodgers would add the pipe to the bottom of the eighth with a Michael Conforto Solo Home Run. The Reds tried to assemble a last -minute comeback in the ninth, but Elly de la Cruz hit Blake Training with two runners on the base for the 27th and final of the game.

Important moment of the game

Pages’ and Teoscar Hernández’s blowles singles to the right field on 69.8 MPH and 71.1 MPH exit speeds respectively, the Dodgers pushed to a four-run inning to take the lead they would not give up.

Notes worth mentioning

-Ohtani had his longest outing of the season and his longest outing since August 9, 2023 against the San Francisco Giants. Tonight he threw many breaking pitches, with a usage rate of 26% for the Curveball and a user percentage of 18% for the sweeping machine. He had a touch above 56% on both pitches.

-Conner Phillips entered the game in the seventh with one and one out. He is still struggling with control and it was clear when he ran Betts and Teoscar Hernández at eight straight pitches, but he was also able to get it up, two and loaded at the moment to keep it on a three-run shortage.

-The Reds were swept for the first time since 16-18 August 2024, when the royals wipe them in Great American Ball Park.
