The game started well for Nick Lodolo when he hit the side in the first half of the 1st inning. The next inning saw him give up a lead-off single to Freddie Freeman, but Lodolo came back with back-to-back strikeouts from the next two batters. However, he could not completely come out of the collection. Tommy Edman hit a 2-out, 2-run at home to place the Dodgers for 2-0.
Los Angeles would again threaten two innings later when Freddie Freeman once started against things with a single. Andy Pages then took one of himself to encourage two men for Tommy Edman. This time around Lodolo won the fight and hit him to end the top of the 4th.
The Reds attack went to work in the second half of the inning. Austin Hays ran and scored when Jake Fraley tied the game with a 2-run home run in the seats in the right field. Noelvi Marte laid Cincinnati in the front with a 2-out solo-home run that has just made the wall on the right.
The Reds would immediately return to things in the 5th. Jose Trevino doubled to distract the inning and back-to-back walks followed to load the bases. A grounder from Elly de la Cruz brought a run to extend the lead to 4-2. Another single followed to load the bases again, but the Reds could not push other runs in the frame.
Nick Lodolo took the hill to start the 6th and let Freddie Freeman ground. That would be the only batter he would have to deal with and end his night with 11 strikeouts in 5.1 innings of 2-run baseball. Scott Barlow would finish the collection to keep the 2-run lead.
Graham Ashcraft took over for the 7th inning and he got into trouble with a 1-out walk. Mookie Betts followed a single. Ashcraft would shut Shohei Ohtani for the second from the inning, but Will Smith chose an RBI Single in the left field to reduce the lead from Cincinnati to a run. Freddie Freeman came through with a soft lining in the left field to bind the game.
After Tony Santillan caught a perfect 8th inning, Emilio Pagan came out of the bullpen for the top of the 9th. He would issue a leadoff walk before he encourages the next two strikers to fly out. But Will Smith cashed in a RBI double of the wall in the left field to set up Los Angeles with 5-4.
Cincinnati would easily go down in their half of the 9th on a strikeout, a pop -up to the catcher and a strikeout. The 5-4 victory gave the Dodgers a series of victory with the final that would come on Wednesday evening.

Will Smith’s Double of the Wall in the top of the 9th that brought in the Go-Ahead Run for the Dodgers.
