The Detroit Red Wings have announced that they have signed defender Travis Hamonic for a one -year -old deal worth $ 1 million. He had a goal and six assists in 59 games with Ottawa last season.

Hamonic, 35, was a second round pick by the islanders in 2008. He immediately settled as a top-four defender, but since he left the islanders, he has deteriorated in his production.
