Ready for my 2026 golf season

Happy New Year to all grateful golfers! With the 2026 golf season approaching, it’s time to reflect on last year’s performance and focus on what I can improve in the future. Of course, living in a northern climate, it’s still four months before my golf season starts, but it’s never too early to start thinking about where I want to take my golf game. I realize that I have written fewer articles this past year due to many factors and I hope to remedy that shortage in 2026. Regardless, I’m still committed to providing a positive, informative, and relatable golf blog for everyone to enjoy. And today is my first step towards achieving my goals.

Like other years, the first step to improving my golf game is to set goals and benchmarks for my golf season. Since this is the first article (although I’ve been thinking about my game a lot lately), it’s hard to definitively decide where I’m going with this. There’s one question I often ask myself during my periods of introspection: Do I really need to make changes?

This fundamental question is the basis of all my efforts to move forward. The premise of this question does not focus on the small things, but rather on the big things, such as a swing change or a focus on price management. I realize that approaching my golf game this way is a double-edged sword because of the domino effect of any change. This year I know I won’t focus on a swing change, but rather on improving the one I have now. I will focus on improving my grooved swing so that I make fewer swing mistakes for no good reason. I know this is moving forward, so my focus on change will not include this part of my golf game.

We all know that improving our golf game comes with many challenges. Time, money and desire are the three major hurdles all golfers face. Luckily I have all three. Desire is my biggest challenge in golf. I love golf and have done so for over 50 years. However, do I still love it enough to exercise regularly or take time from my other pleasures in life? I will address these and other fundamental questions regarding my golf game in the coming weeks.

As you can see, I have a lot to think about and discuss. The start of each golf season offers all golfers the opportunity to take stock of their game and where they want to go. Golf is a great sport and a big part of my life. I just need to decide how much of a part I want it to be in 2026. What about you? Are there any changes to your game in the future?

I am a grateful golfer! See you on the links!
