Rarely seen summer signing given January departure from Wrexham News: The72 – Football League News

Wrexham had one of the EFL’s bigger summer transfer windows as they invested heavily in their rise to the Championship.

Their move from the National League to the second tier has been bankrolled by Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney. Declarations such as Nathan Broadhead and Conor Coady have been signed, but such massive cases have left some players on the fringes.

There is one player who is having trouble finding action Ryan Hardie, who participated in the summer. His five-minute appearance off the bench against Ipswich Town on Saturday was his first Championship appearance since September 13, and the Scot is considering a quick exit.

Football competition World claims Hardie is already considering a move from the Racecourse Ground. No one has been named at this stage, but a number of EFL clubs are monitoring his situation.

Ryan Hardie’s uphill battle for a place at Wrexham

Given his success at Plymouth Argyle, Hardie probably arrived at Wrexham believing he would be good value for a starting spot.

In a struggling team, the 28-year-old scored ten times in 37 league matches last season. That was after making 12 out of 40 the year before, as Argyle battled relegation in both campaigns.

Unfortunately, the late signing of Welsh powerhouse Moore has meant that Hardie’s battle for a place has become tougher. Along with Josh Windass in attack, breaking into the front two is difficult, with Sam Smith turning up in Moore’s absence against Ipswich Town.

If such opportunities remain difficult to come by, Hardie will be better off for a winter move. He has shown that he can score goals for championship clubs, or be a statement for a top League One club.

Who else could leave Wrexham in January?

There is very strong competition for places in the Wrexham squad. Great depth means leaving out players who could play a more influential role elsewhere.

In defense, Aaron James is likely to be a departing player, while there is a possibility that one central defender could also move on. However, Phil Parkinson has had a lot of rotation there, so the depth will certainly come in handy.

Ollie Rathbone and Andy Cannon could be interesting in midfield, while Harry Ashfield could benefit from a loan. Next to Hardie on offense is Jay Rodriguez as someone who could leave.
