Ranji Trophy 2025-26: Paras Dogra becomes second batsman after Wasim Jaffer to cross 10,000 runs

The Palampur born cricketer Paras Dograwho is currently leading Jammu and Kashmir in the Ranji Trophy 2025-2026, has etched his name in the record books by becoming only the second cricketer after Wasim Jaffer to cross the 10,000-run mark in the 92-year history of the tournament. The milestone moment came during the Ranji Trophy semi-final against Bengal on February 16 in Kalyani.

Batting second, J&K ran into early trouble at 13/2 when Dogra walked. When Shubham Pundir left soon after, Dogra found support in Abdul Samad, and the pair stitched together a crucial 50-run partnership to steady the innings. Dogra reached the historic milestone with the 11th run of his knock and achieved the feat in his 147th Ranji Trophy appearance. Only Jaffer has previously crossed the 10,000 points mark and remains the tournament’s highest points scorer with 12,038 points.

The right-handed batsman started his first-class career with Himachal Pradesh in 2001, where he represented the side in 95 Ranji Trophy matches and amassed over 6,418 runs, including 19 centuries and 24 half-centuries. In 2018, he moved to Puducherry where he became the team’s first-ever Ranji Trophy centurion, scoring eleven centuries in five seasons. Ahead of the 2024-25 season, he transferred to Jammu & Kashmir and took over the captaincy.

Dogra is approaching the 500-point mark this season and has continued to lead from the front. He is currently J&K’s second highest run-scorer and has played a crucial role in guiding the side to their maiden semi-final of the Ranji Trophy. Among active players, Dogra now holds the record for most Ranji Trophy centuries (33), behind only Jaffer’s all-time record of 40. In his 147th match, he also became the second most capped player in tournament history, behind Jaffer’s 156 appearances.

Known for converting starts into huge scores, he has registered nine double centuries in the Ranji Trophy, the joint-highest in the competition’s history, alongside former Indian cricketer Cheteshwar Pujara.
