Rangers could break the camp with 15 attackers

While the training camp and the preseason last, the forward competition is really hot without a clear answer to the structure of the lower six. Even in today’s practice, the Rangers have 5 forward lines that may be NHL lines to start the season. The answers to the defense are virtually set, and as long as the Rangers remain injury free, they have the chance to make an extensive look for the attackers on October. This means that the Rangers can break the camp with 15 ahead.

Defense questions are usually answered

The Rangers have the flexibility to wear 15 ahead at the start of the season because their defense questions are usually answered. The only question was whether Scott Morrow would force the Rangers to keep him in the neighborhood. He has not turned heads, but it is good enough and is probably an upgrade to Urho often in the long term.

The question about Morrow is whether he will be defensively good enough, which is probably the reason why the Rangers feel more comfortable to send him to Hartford (probably). Morrow would just get more time to adapt, while the Rangers find out what is going on in their lower six.

Matthew Robertson and Connor Mackey, the only other defenders in the camp who can get stuck after the Rangers have made their next round cuts, is not. Mackey that we know is more an 8D, but it is disappointing to see how far Robertson has lost since his concept year. Even second round picks his dart throws.

If the Rangers move forward with 15 to start the season, Morrow is sent to Hartford. But I am not afraid, he will come back soon enough.

Rangers breaking camp with 15 forwards is a real possibility

Based on lines today and the way in which the Hartford coaching staff coached yesterday half of the exercise, it seems that most forward decisions have already been made. Noah Laba seems to get a longer look and it is deserved a lot. He has surpassed every other attacker for a place, including Juuso Parsinen and Conor Sheary.

Among the children, Brett Berard and Brennan Othmann also get a longer appearance, although Othmann really has to perform his play. This is as expected, because the organization has to make decisions about their respective future with the Rangers. The only unexpected achievements in the camp so far were Laba, which surpasses everyone.

This means that Gabe Perreault and Dylan Roobrock, despite the fact that they look strong in the camp, are on their way to Hartford, at least temporarily. We predicted this, simply because of all the other decisions that showed up.

Rooster decision Fallout

There is some consequences of this decision, and part of it will probably irritate part of the fan base. But don’t forget that the Line -up on the opening evening is never the line -up of Thanksgiving, let alone the end of the season.

  • Assuming that the Rangers take 15 forward, includes the Sheary, Jonny Brodzinski, Juuso Parsinen and Taylor Raddysh. None of the quartet is a must, and Raddysh is the best among them, with Sheary not far behind. There is nothing that prevents the Rangers from showing them again, the last schedule decisions are made again.
  • Wide declarations of exempt players will be sent to Hartford earlier to start the season, which means that after this extensive look, Laba is still most likely sent to Hartford. This is the unfortunate nature of exemptions, because it will force a more difficult decision by Mike Sullivan.
  • None of the Sheary, Brodzinski, Parsinen and Raddysh Quartet are players “must keep”. They are good enough deepters who can be stopgaps to ensure that the prospects are not rushed. That’s good enough for now.
  • We can see a trade in prospects, apparently involved with Othmann considering his camp and how others have already passed him on the depth card. I wonder if Chris Drury wants to earn back the picks with Othmann and/or Robertson.
  • Perhaps the best fall -out of this year’s camp is the first call -ups this year probably children who want to prove themselves, and not experienced travelers who just fill a place.

The Rangers break the camp with 15 forward no guarantee in no way. But it seems to be a logical path, since they have 9 forwards for a maximum of 8 places. This is a good problem for the Rangers to have.
