Racing driver James Moffat is doubling down on his secondary career as a high-end residential developer with a series of upmarket townhouses for sale in Beaconsfield.
The Supercars Championship driver and Trans Am Series racer is the son of the late touring car champion Allan Moffat, and was signed to billionaire LMCT+ lottery company owner Adrian Portelli in 2021 as support for his racing career.
The younger Moffat won the Australian Trans Am Series in 2023 and regularly competed in Supercars championships.

Chapel St, Melbourne, auction stunned when a brawl broke out mid-sale
In November he ended an eight-year tenure with Tickford Racing’s enduro supercars programme, but said he planned to race again in 2026.
Last year he sold his first luxury home, a $2.85 million Cabena St, Donvale, which he built as his own perfect home.
He has just completed a series of five houses at 8 Souter St, Beaconsfield, with 1/8 Souter St now for sale for $1.15 million – $1.25 million and 4/8 for sale for $1.05 million – $1.15 million.
Living areas are designed with space and natural light in mind.
The four-bedroom, three-bathroom homes with two-car garages are equipped with a range of high-end features, including square crown molding in high ceilings, two master bedrooms, both with en-suite bathrooms and walk-in closets, as well as technology additions, from keyless entry to zoned heating and cooling.
“The standard of finishes is very good, and the quality of the finish; I wasn’t prepared to compromise on these things,” Moffat said.
“And the layouts all have a slightly different atmosphere… they all have their own character.
“So I think the end product is certainly of a high standard and there is nothing like it on the streets – or even in the surrounding streets.”
The bathrooms in the house are designed as if James Moffat himself would live in them.
Moffat chose to build five townhouses on the block, rather than the eight that might have been possible, to ensure better sizes for families.
While the site could have been approved for seven or eight homes, he said he wanted to make sure the completed project would allow families to move in right away and live there for a long time.
Moffat added that the homes had an enviable location close to the local train station, restaurants, cafes and shops – plus sought-after schools were also close by.
“So we feel like we’ve delivered a pretty desirable project.”
Brad Nicholls of Harcourts Berwick is handling the sale and said very few townhouses in the suburb would test the $1 million market, but Souter St’s offering stood out.
James Moffat has a successful racing career, but also works as a property developer.
“They would be the best townhouses in the area,” Nicholls said.
