If this season seemed quiet without gears, you haven’t been paying attention to PXG.
The company made the only major addition of the new year when it announced that PGA Tour rookie Marco Penge joined the Tour staff last week. Now PXG has added another major asset in the form of reigning PGA Tour Rookie of the Year Aldrich Potgieter. He previously worked at Titleist.
“Last season showed me what it takes to compete here,” Potgieter said in a press release. “I’m focused on getting better every week, and PXG gives me the tools and support to do that. The equipment performs, the process is simple, and that’s exactly what I’m looking for.”
Potgieter led the PGA Tour in driving distance last season at 325 yards per tee shot, meaning PXG now has two of the PGA Tour’s tallest young stars on staff. Penge led the DP World Tour in Strokes Gained: Off-The-Tee and averaged 319 yards.
PXG also now has the last two winners of the PGA Tour ROTY award, with Potgieter joining 2024 winner Eric Cole. That doesn’t include Penge, the odds-on favorite to win the award this year.
“Aldrich not only had a good rookie year, he set a standard,” said Bob Parsons, founder and CEO of PXG. “He is disciplined, powerful and knows what he expects from his equipment. That clarity and competitiveness make him a great fit for PXG as he takes the next step in his career.”

Potgieter will play the company’s new Lightning Tour driver, as well as PXG’s Secret Weapon mini driver, the GEN8 Interestingly, Potgieter is still listed on Titleist’s website as a ‘golf ball player’.
This is likely the last major equipment signing ahead of the 2026 season. It’s been quiet, but PXG is a big winner. The company is betting big on young talent and could potentially have the last three PGA Tour Rookie of the Year award winners on its staff.
Gear changes are always fickle and worth monitoring, but it’s worth noting that both Penge and Potgieter will have a consistent golf ball from last season, which helps bring some consistency.
But with both Potgieter, Penge and Cole, PXG is sending the message that they will be among the best in the game for years to come.
