Purdon Racing has many winning opportunities about the Addington racing map tomorrow night and it is great to see the ‘Blue Army’ back in the south while we enter the exciting part of the Harness Races season.
After many successful years based in Canterbury, Mark and Nathan Purdon moved to the Auckland area earlier this year.
Treacherous baby (CaptainTreachous) Is one of the early favorites in race six. She has a great record about the distance of 1980 meters and on the Addington circuit.
“We had to scratch her from her last start. She got an infection in her leg, so she missed a bit of work and maybe she will benefit from the run. But by saying that with the way she racet, she will have the last run to them and still have to go well,” Mark said.
Veteran Trotter Oscar Bonavena (Majestic son) Comes in the testing cup that is ideal in the handicaps and the ten meters shares with one over you and muscle mountain.
“Happy with him. The open class drifting probably don’t have the depth we have had at certain times. It seems that he and Muscle Mountain will be the two to beat.”
Mark and Nathan have two runners in the ‘Ian Dobson’ Johnny Globe Classic – Midnight Miki (Always B Miki) and Rubira (Always B Miki).
Midnight Miki gets the better draw at Barrier Four.
“He came up well and he is in a beautiful form. It was a good first run for him when he took the older horses and she hit. You should respect him, but he is not the same class as Rubira.”
Rubira pulls the outside of the front row with a different favorite runner Bar Louie on his inside.
“He’s in a good place. He has had a nice racing under his belt, while many of the others come back and have their first runs. I choose them no hard runs, while I think this horse is almost about to be about.”
In the next three months there are some large goals for Rubira and Mark is enthusiastic about three -year -old races.
“I am. I have a lot of respect for the market and he is the benchmark of the three -year -olds, but if he was unlucky, this horse could benefit from it.”
Purdon says he noticed the changes in Rubira.
“He has improved mentally. He has had the talent, but he has been a very fractive horse. The journey to Auckland and Brisbane and then come here has really shaped him and he is now a really smart horse.”
The night of Purdon Racing rounds around the three Avon City Ford New Brighton Cup group, a race where the winner automatically gets access to the Irt New Zealand Trotting Cup of November.
The stable representative is Akuta (Bettor’s pleasure).
“With the two runs he has had, he improved with each. His last race was like a tame test. He is vulnerable this week if it is a Turn Run Race, but if he gets the right run, he will be there.”
Akuta pulls the inside for the standard of 2600 meters.
“He has not had much standing starter experience. I’m just going to take it as it comes. The big whole is that we prepare him for the cup. If he ends three back, it is so. He didn’t have the Ringcraft from a standard to say he would bounce away and leading or chased.”
