Public input searched for a new border wall, infrastructure in San Diego County

Almost 10 miles of the new border wall is planned for the construction in San Diego County, as well as additional infrastructure such as cameras, lights and roads along about 50 miles from the border between the US and Mexico.

The 9.74 miles new wall comprises to build 7.6 miles to the west of the Tecate Port of Entry1.3 miles wall east of the Tecate port of the entry, and just below a mile of “secondary barrier” to the east of the Otay Mesa Port of Entry.

Infrastructural updates are also planned along 51.5 miles of the then existing barrier system in San Diego County, including fiber optic cables, lighting posts, artificial lights, power cables, surveillance cameras, access and patrol roads and tools along the border.

Ministry of Interior Security Secretary Kristi Name has issued an exemption from environmental regulations to accelerate the construction, which states that the San Diego sector of the border patrouille “is an area of ​​high illegal entry” and that “there is currently an acute and immediate need to prevent extra physical barriers and roads in the border of the United States.”
