Pub Baron Jon Adgemis lives in a Bondi Beach penthouse and continues to control a Mercedes while $ 162 million $ 162 million.

This was perhaps one of the reasons why his attempt to arrange a reported $ 1.5 billion in debts during a meeting of creditors on Friday was blocked.

The Australian Tax Office reportedly wrote to the restructuring of the Trustee WLP, unhappy that the taxpayer would probably only see 0.17 ° C in the dollar.

The taxpayer would probably just see $ 275,347 against the nearly $ 162 million that it owes.

“It is not clear from the context of the report whether the controlling managers have made meaningful discussions with the debtor for a return to creditors, outside the meager amount that is offered,” wrote Vice Commissioner Julian Roberts, according to the Australian.

He said that was relevant, because Adgemis lived in a Bondi apartment with a rent of $ 60k, “the apparent access to money and lifestyle that does not suit an individual for more than $ 1 billion and claimed to rely on family members funds to offer creditors and a return on their debts.”

Mr Adgemis would avoid bankruptcy and allow him to remain a company director if 75 percent of his creditors accept his deal by dollar value.

Angas Securities seized the apartment block (right) last April and is now planning to give it for sale in the spring.

But the Australian Financial Security Authority, which supervises bankruptcies, surprised the meeting of creditors by appearing in a video link.

It set a resolution for a month, in which the National Manager Neville Matthew told the meeting that the authority still had to decide whether there were “infringements of the Bankruptcy Act”, but the Inspector General was concerned about a report from the bankruptcy manager.

In a restructuring report for creditors, Mr Adgemis reported $ 3.79 on his bank account.

One of the creditors, which was owed in Adelaide, who owed nearly $ 18.5 million, was happy with the outcome of Friday.

“I am satisfied with the inspector general who takes a robust assessment,” said Angas Securities’ executive chairman Andrew Luckhurst-Smith.

Angas Securities came in last April to grab the apartment building on Campbell PDE, which was part of part Adgemis’s $ 68.5 million purchase of Noah’s backpackers Site in June 2022.

Mr Luckhurst-Smith is now planning to build the apartment for sale in the spring and would like Mr Adgemis to keep control of the refurbishment of the neighboring site, now known as South Bondi Hotel.

Waverley Council approved the plans, which will include a bar on the roof in February of this year.

“It will have the best view in Bondi, directly along the beach,” said Mr Luckhurst-Smith.
