Proton CEO Dr. Li Chunrong has just announced that bookings for the 2026 Proton Saga MC3 have surpassed 70,000, just two months after the car’s launch on November 27. On January 5, the carmaker announced that it had sold 10,000 units while the number of bookings was around 30,000, so the number of registrations should be quite a bit more by now.
To recap, the Saga is available in three variants: the Standard, Executive and Premium, priced at RM38,990, RM44,990 and RM49,990 respectively. The RM1,000 early bird has made way for January discounts of up to RM500 plus up to RM300 if you trade-in.
Retaining the same basic structure as before, but with a new Advanced Modular Architecture (AMA), it has been extensively redesigned with new features such as LED lighting, dual displays for instrumentation and infotainment and, exclusive to the Premium, driver assistance systems such as autonomous emergency braking and blind spot monitoring.
All models are powered by a new 1.5-litre BHE15-CFN Intelligent Green Technology (i-GT) naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine developing 120 PS/150 Nm. This is mated to an Aisin four-speed automatic transmission or a Punch CVT, the latter only on the Premium.
Looking ahead, the Saga should continue to sell strongly in its full sales year in 2026, likely supported by higher volume. Exports are also expected to increase significantly as the car will soon be renamed Geely, with the Philippines already its first major market this year.
