Pour one for the Proton Iriz, the production of which apparently ended this week with the last body, #97576, which was elected by the Tanjong Malim factory on 9 September. That is according to the above image that is on the top Proton Iriz Club Malaysia (PICM) Facebook groupDestroying any hope for the hatchback that a Saga-style makes makeover.
Although the national car manufacturer still has to announce the news publicly (and the car is still mentioned on the official website), it is likely that the sale will end calmly, as was the case with the Exora MPV in 2023. This means that Proton will soon be in its line-up in the Line-up in 1994 without a Line-Up.
It is a case of what could have been for Iriz, which was launched with a lot of fanfare almost 11 years ago if the car that would take the proton name abroad and save the company. You can trace the roots of the model until 2010 with the EMAS concept designed by Giugiaro (not to be confused with the EMAS 7 EV that was given the name 14 years later) who made the headlines on the Geneva auto show that year.
Not much of the spectacular Proton was actually flourishing that it was also during this time that the Range Extender EVs brought to the UK and made the now notorious announcement to launch five new Lotus models at the show in Paris. But only three years later, the world would catch a glimpse of what the EMAS changed with the first spyshots of what was then known as the Global Small Car (GSC).

Yours has really become a member paultan.org At the beginning of 2014, just as the development of the car won speed in the right way, with photos of disguised prototypes that were apparently sent to our inbox every week. It was a really amazing period when we learned more and more about the car as the months progressed, with whisper from “Myvi Killer”, which suggested that Proton was seriously to defeat Perodua in his own game.
The Iriz eventually made his debut on 25 September of that year (who could forget the slogan “Betul2 Onz ”?). Offered in 1,3 and 1.6 liters of versions and the retail between RM42.438 to RM62.88, it was priced to tackle the Myvi frontal and specified to defeat it, especially where it concerns safety. I even managed to be described by the car.

Unfortunately for Proton, perodua cut his legs underneath by launching the smaller and cheaper Axia only ten days before, stealing are stealing. Only one of these two cars has once received a second generation – Consult which one.
In the end, the Iriz never fully succeeded in meet the almost unrealistic expectations with which it was taxed. That caused a dramatic limitation of his plans for the future -it never managed to be exported to the VK, Australia or Europe (although it was ultimately converted into an R5 rally car in the UK, achieving a modest success), and it never received the driver’s own -owned security assistance that was tested, even when) – – – -his own safety -assistance tested its own assistance assisted assistance with its own assa’s own assistance assistance Line -up.

Nor did the Iriz received the electric version for which it was designed and that resulted in the Tallboy design of the Auto-Noch the sportier turbo engine (combined with a manual six-speed gearbox, no less) that was plagued; That proton eventually stood to later products with Geely-developed. We still have not forgiven the company that we have refused the Pukka Iriz R3 of our dreams.
To his honor, Proton has given the Iriz various updates over time to tackle problems with refinement and CVT performance. These include two important facelifts in 2019 and 2021 thanks to Geely Investment, the latter turned it into a surprisingly attractive car and eventually brought the rugged -looking active variant into production (albeit in a considerably weakened form).

The IRIZ also has a sedan version in 2016 in the form of the third generation of persona. That car eventually became more successful and repeated the effect on the previous model versus the Gen.2 and indicated that Proton should have been demonstrated first with the four -door version. For the time being there is no news about whether the production of the persona would end next to the Iriz, although we suspect that it will be a soldier for at least a few years.
I think we have said enough about the Iriz, who will be happy to be remembered (our own Hafriz Shah Will – he even bought one!) Despite not setting the sales graphs on fire. Take an arc, your sympathetic non-global small car and enjoy your well-deserved pension.
