Following reports of a fire that occurred at a Proton body and paint dealership in Sungai Buloh, the automaker has issued an official statement.
“On Wednesday, January 7, 2026 at approximately 5:00 PM, a fire broke out at Proton Salient Progress (B&P), located at Lot 906 & 907, Kampung Baru Sungai Buloh, 40160 Shah Alam, Selangor. The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) was immediately contacted and the fire was successfully brought under control at 8:00 PM.
“The cause and extent of damage resulting from the incident are currently under investigation. At this time, there is no indication that the incident was caused by a product-related issue. Importantly, no injuries or loss of life have been reported,” the statement said.
“The incident is currently under investigation by the relevant authorities, with the dealer working closely with them throughout the process. Proton will support the dealer in addressing customer-related matters, and affected customers will be contacted immediately.
“The Salient Progress Kepong 4S showroom, located at No. 246, Batu 6 1/2, Jln Besar Kepong, 52000 Kuala Lumpur, remains unaffected and continues normal daily operations,” the statement concluded.
