In addition to upgrades for modern living, this renovated Prospect Heights apartment features some style nods to its 1930s origins. On the top floor of 55 Eastern Parkway, the move-in ready unit features a sunken living room, dining gallery, wood floors and a vintage yellow bathtub.

Developed by apartment building builders Leon A. and Murray Kellner, the colonial-style building was completed in 1939. press the blurb that year described the apartments in the six-story, 47-unit building as having “all the modern conveniences today’s housekeeper desires.” The spacious apartments include lowered living rooms, dining galleries, foyers of ‘exceptional dimensions’ and bathrooms with colored tiles.

This one-bedroom indeed has a spacious foyer with picture rails, an alcove with shelves and enough space for an office. The foyer is open to the living room, which has two windows and is large enough for a flexible arrangement.

An iron balustrade defines the dining area, which opens into the renovated kitchen. Here are all white cabinets and counters. Updated appliances include a dishwasher.

A short hallway off the foyer features a closet and a laundry room with a sink and a full-size washer and dryer.

In the bedroom the storage room consists of three cupboards. The room also has two windows and space for a king-size bed.

There’s only a small glimpse of the bathroom in the listing photos, but it appears to have a vintage charm with a yellow bath and peach and black floor tiles. Previous entries in the building also show bathrooms with yellow wall tiles from the Deco era, but that is not visible here.

The maintenance for this unit is $1,375 per month. Facilities in the building include a live-in supermarket, a free bicycle shed and a landscaped courtyard.
