Promoter explains why he’s happy Jake Paul lost to Anthony Joshua: ‘I know that may sound harsh’ | BJPenn.com

Most Valuable Promotions CEO Nakisa Bidarian admits he is happy Jake Paul lost to Anthony Joshua.

Paul took on Joshua on Friday night in a huge step up in the competition and a highly anticipated match. Paul had some success early as he was able to use his footwork and speed to avoid Joshua’s powerful shots.

However, as the fight progressed, Paul began to tire, and Joshua began landing big shots en route to a sixth-round victory. Although Paul was disappointed to lose, his Bidarian partner believes the loss is good for the YouTuber turned boxer.

“He is focused on his return as a boxer in 2026,” Bidarian said said to Ariel Helwani. “This is a sport that he loves. This is a sport that saved him from the path he was on. In a funny way, I’m kind of glad he didn’t win, and I know that may sound harsh, but imagine if Jake Paul, five years in the sport, actually probably three years in the sport when it comes to fighting top competition who are fighters, were to beat Anthony Joshua.

“What would be the motivation to keep getting better? To double your training, to train even harder. Jake always says the best lessons or the best wins come from your losses, and I believe that’s what happened with Tommy Fury, and I 100 percent believe that’s what happened here.”

The fight would likely be a good learning experience for Paul, and Bidarian believes that.

Jake Paul suffered a broken jaw in the loss to Anthony Joshua

Not only did Paul lose to Joshua, but he also suffered a broken jaw.

After the loss, Paul spoke in the ring and claimed he had broken his jaw, which was later confirmed to be true. Even though he lost, Paul was satisfied with his performance after the fight.

“I gave it everything,” says Paul. “Anthony is a great fighter and I took a beating, but that’s what this sport is about. But I’ll come back and keep winning.”

Jake Paul fell to 12-2 as a pro.
