The Womenswear Proenza Schoumer brand has tapped Black Fashion Designer Rachel Scott as a new creative director.
The founder of Diotoma will lead the clothing and accessories label because it is introducing a new era of his designs. Scott brings a horde of fashion expertise to this new function. The dual CFDA-Honoree previously served as a brand and design advisor in Europe and America. The 41-year-old designer has already achieved a lot in her career with her successful Diotoma brand, which combines her Caribbean heritage with increased craftsmanship. Founded in 2021, the brand is recognized for the inclusion of traditional handwoven crochet techniques in its delicate pieces. In summary structure with substances and futuristic design, Scott’s vision made her a pioneer in the fashion world. Now her leadership will switch to Proenza Schoumer, based in New York City.

Winning the inaugural empowered vision award of the CFDA and Andréa W. and Kenneth C. Frazier Family Foundation, Scott’s unique talent will also influence Proenza because it continues to form the fashion for women. Also a recipient of the CFDA Emerging Designer of the Year Award in 2023 and the Women’s Wear Designer of the Year Award in 2024, she has already established herself as a leader in the evolving fashion landscape that promotes inclusiveness in the field.
The Chief Executive Officer of Proenza, Shira Suveyke Snyder, also called Scott the “natural choice” to lead the brand.

Scott will follow Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez as creative director, as the two transition to Loewe. With this appointment, Scott now makes history as the first black woman to lead a large American fashion brand.
