Premier League Preview: The Fans’ View – Everton

Prior to the Premier League season 2025/26 we spoke with fans of all 20 clubs to get their opinion about the coming campaign.

Here we talked to Michael Toffeeweb About all things Everton.

Which lessons must be learned from last season?

Score goals. The focus is so much focused on defense – rightly so because we had to be strong there and that is what saved us last season. But every progression must come from scoring goals and winning games. Who knew it was that simple?

What is your opinion about the manager?

David Moyes came in and did remarkable work last season, that is not to be denied. Sean Dyche had created an almost impossible situation, with a poor stock of hopeless players he gave himself that he could not go further.

But Moyes almost immediately supervised a remarkable turnaround – the classic “New Manager Bounce” – which produced an excellent form of form after being only one point above the relegation places, eventually finished 23 points clearly, and above two of Moyes’s former Premier League clubs, West Ham United and Manchester.

What is your opinion about your summer transfer window so far?

Usually loaded with fear and frustration, just as so many players apparently said no to Everton. Let’s hope they regret it, starting with Liam Delap. But now with Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall we have five* new signing sessions so far and there are perhaps the nine or 10 that Moyes said we wanted to go through Transfer Deadline Day. We always seem to do most of our company at the end of the window.

*Jack Grealisk has since become Everton’s sixth signing of the window*

A player to view this season from your club

One player I want to see desperate and a real star will be this season is Harrison Armstrong … But that will probably not happen to Everton because Moyes will not consider him ‘not ready for the Premier League’ and he will be lent again to a lower competition club, where his flourishing talent will be more than likely to be seriously in the estate. He should play for Everton.

The most underrated player in your club is …

Charly Alcaraz. Strange choice perhaps because he has already shown some potential … But I think there is a fantastic South -American talent just below the surface, bursting to show himself on every Premier League area in the country, because he becomes the biggest outbreak of the new Premier League season, which Everton drives ahead with a charging of the goals that are created. He is about to become our new James Rodriguez – but young and fit and fully committed to become the most valuable player in the Premier League.

The game that you look forward to this season is …

The first Premier League match in the new Hill Dickinson Stadium, against Brighton, that in so many ways should be a new beginning for a club that has experienced through the ringtone, while the last regime almost destroyed it, while ironically built such a fantastic new house for the club on the banks of the Royal Blue Mersey.

Which opposition player you secretly admire

For a long time it was Kevin De Bruyne for obvious reasons. Amad seemed to be a new pretext on the throne, but I was not at all impressed by the way he threw himself on the floor when we played them in the preseason. At least he scored for us!

This season your team will end …

In the upper half of the Premier League, perhaps a typical Moyesian Magnificent 7th to give us European football again!
