A new competition in the race for the Golden Boot of the Premier League will start the conversation on Sunday when Alexander Isak makes his debut for Liverpool.
Big things are expected from the 25-year-old after his £ 125 million move from Newcastle on Deadline Day made him the most expensive player ever bought by a British club.
Isak passed the 20 goal in each of his last two seasons with Newcastle and hit 21 in 2023/24 and 23 in his last campaign on Tyneside.
But he is currently only judged as the third most likely winner of the Golden Boot 2025/26, with football bets that prefer the Goal machine from Manchester City Erling Haaland and Arsenal Summer Signing Viktor Gyokeres.
Premier League Golden Boot 2025/26: How it stands
Three rounds in the new season, the Golden Boot Race already has a well -known feeling. Haaland leads the road with three goals, which scored twice on the opening weekend at Wolves and again in the defeat of Brighton.
A large number of players are just behind him on two, including Chelsea’s Joao Pedro, Arsenal Duo Gyokeres and Jurrien Timber, Liverpool’s Hugo Ekitike and Tottenham Vooruit Brennan Johnson and Richarlison.
Chelsea -Midpenvelder Enzo Fernandez, Burnley’s Jaidon Anthony, Bournemouth’s Antoine Semenyo, Sunderland’s Wilson Isidor, Chris Wood from Nottingham Forest, Everton’s Iliman Ndiaye, Crytor’s Lucasa and Brentforda and Brentforda and Brentford also two.
For now, however, it is Haaland who has already opened a three goals lead on Isak before the Swede has even kicked a ball for his new club.

Erling Haaland is the favorite to win the Golden Boot Trophy from the Premier League in 2025-26, after previously won in 2022-23 and 2023-24
Golden boot opportunities
Bookmakers doubt little about the current favorite. Haaland costs on 11/10 to reclaim the Golden Boot after he was beaten by Mohamed Salah last season.
Gyokeres then comes to 15/2, while Isak has an 8/1 chance to hit the ground in Liverpool. In addition to the leading three, Pedro and Salah are both available on 12/1, with Ekitike further back on 22/1 and Chelsea playmaker Cole Palmer a 33/1 outsider.
Is Alexander Isak a Golden Boot -Competer?
Isak scored 54 goals in 86 league matches for Newcastle, making it one of the most reliable strikers in the Premier League. At 6ft 4, it combines height and physicality with pace, technical capacity and clinical finish.
The care is whether he can hit the ground that can be missed after missing much of the preseason. He is expected to start on the couch when Liverpool visits Burnley on Sunday, but even a cameo could give fans a taste of his potential impact. If he quickly settles in Liverpool’s new attack, he could prove a serious value on 8/1.
That attack was strongly reformed after a record -breaking summer transfer window. Liverpool spent £ 446.5 million – more than any other club – to bring in Hugo Ekitike (£ 79 million), Florian Wirtz (£ 116.5 million) and Isak (£ 125 million). With so much firepower around Salah, it is generally expected that the goal of the Egyptian goal will fall this season, with the burden of scoring more evenly distributed over the front line.

Alexander Isak is also a competition for the Golden Boot after he has arrived at Liverpool from Newcastle in a transfer of £ 125 million
Is it “not to stop”?
Haaland’s early figures suggest more of the same. He has three goals from his first three league games and returns from the international break after scoring six goals in two games for Norway and five in a 11-1 thrashing from Moldova.
Responding to his incredible representation against Moldova – who brought his international count to 48 goals in just 45 games – a fan Haaland described as “just not to stop”. Another stated: “I’m sorry, but Erling Haaland retires as the best striker in football history.”
The Manchester Derby on Sunday offers him another chance to expand his lead. If he continues to score at this pace, the rest of the field could compete again for second place.
What about Viktor Gyokers?
Gyokees scored twice in his first three performances for Arsenal. Both goals came in a 5-0 win over Leeds, but he was fairly anonymous in his other two trips he could not take any shot at goal against Man United of Liverpool.
Although some fans recently suggest that Mikel Merino should start instead of following a perfect hat trick for Spain, Gyokees is expected to lead the line in front of Mikel Arteta, most weeks after arrival in England with a frightening reputation. The Swede scored an extraordinary 97 goals in 102 games for Sporting Lisbon in the past two seasons, songs that explain why bookmakers see him as the closest challenger of Haaland.

Viktor Gyokeres will also be there if he can replicate his sporty Lisbon form at Arsenal
Pronunciation
It is difficult to argue with the bookmakers, who see Haaland as the man to beat. The chance of 11/10 is seductive, given that he is guaranteed to start the most competitions as fit and apparently guaranteed goals, regardless of whether City can rediscover their best shape.
However, Liverpool now looks like the best team in the country. If Isak settles quickly and gets the service that he has dreamed of the entire summer, he will undoubtedly also be a serious competition.
