In part two of the 2026 NHL trade deadline predictor, we’ll look at a few more big names that could be on the way. In part one of the series we looked at where Artemi Panarin could land. I also predicted that Rasmus Andersson would end up with the Toronto Maple Leafs, and by the time part two rolled around, he was already dealt to the Vegas Golden Knights. Finally, I predicted that Nazem Kadri would reunite with the Colorado Avalanche.
Today, the focus shifts to where the Schenn brothers could potentially end up, as well as the future of the Edmonton Oilers Andreas Mangiapane.
Brayden Schenn to the Colorado Avalanche
As mentioned above in part one, we explored a possible Nazem Kadri reunion in Denver. However, if Calgary’s asking price for Kadri remains sky-high, or if he ultimately ends up elsewhere, Colorado general manager Chris MacFarland will need a clear plan B. Brayden Schenn comes into the conversation.
The St. Louis Blues are currently sixth in the Central Division and seem ready to get younger. That makes their 34-year-old captain a realistic trade candidate. Schenn is an elite faceoff specialist and a versatile forward who can play center or wing. For the Avalanche, he would provide the heavy, physical presence and Cup-winning pedigree they value in their middle six, especially if they miss out on the Kadri sweepstakes.
Luke Schenn to the Toronto Maple Leafs
Stop us if you’ve heard this before. The Toronto Maple Leafs are interested in to take Lucas Schenn back in the fold. With Chris Tanev sidelined due to injury, the right side of the blue line looks thin. Maple Leafs general manager Brad Treliving could be moving to a very familiar option.
Schenn is currently playing for a Winnipeg Jets team that has struggled this season after winning the Presidents’ Trophy last year. If made available, he would be an ideal target for a possible third spell at the club.
He has the ability to clear up front and the physical edge that Morgan Rielly has thrived alongside in the past. With a manageable cap hit of $2.75 million, Schenn would be a cost-effective solution for a Toronto team strapped for resources and flexibility.
Andrew Mangiapane to the Anaheim Ducks
The Oilers’ experiment with Mangiapane appears to be coming to an end. After being a healthy scratch several times in January, the 29-year-old winger will do the same most likely to be treated by the 2026 NHL trade deadline
The Anaheim Ducks make a lot of sense as a landing spot. They have plenty of cap space and a clear need for veteran scoring to support their young core. Mangiapane’s high motor play and defensive responsibility would fit well with what Anaheim is building. For Edmonton, moving his $3.6 million salary would provide much-needed flexibility to pursue a top defenseman before the deadline.
