Finance Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy has sought explantation of BRS working chairman KT Rama Rao over the allegations leveled by late Maganti Gopinath’s mother who said she was not allowed to meet her son in the hospital.
“BRS chief K. Chandrasekhar Rao and his son KTR are trying to exploit public sympathy over Mr Gopinath’s death, which led to the Jubilee Hills by-election. But KTR has to explain how Mr Gopinath’s mother was treated by him and why she was not allowed to see her son in the ICU despite requests,” he said.
The minister made these remarks while touring various areas, including Borabanda division, where he interacted with local residents on Friday, as part of the Congress campaign in Jubilee Hills.
He alleged that after looting millions of rupees from the people of Telangana, the KCR family was now trying to cash in on Mr Gopinath’s wife and sentiments of BRS candidate Maganti Sunitha to get sympathy votes.
The minister also alleged that KTR had sidelined his own sister K. Kavitha and was now using the money he earned from commissions in the Kaleshwaram project to spend on the Jubilee Hills bypolls.
He added, “When N. Chandrababu Naidu was arrested in Andhra Pradesh, the software engineers of Telangana, who were protesting peacefully, were told to stage a protest in Andhra and the same KTR is now begging for votes from Telugu Desam sympathizers.”
