Police have arrested three people for their alleged involvement in the kidnapping, stabbing and robbery of two women that took place in Washington, D.C. in October
The U.S. Attorney’s Office, District of Columbia, announced that Robynn Danielle Bynum, 18, of Fort Washington, Maryland, Cierra Charity Lee, 20, and Kayvon Edwards, 21, of the District of Columbia arrested on November 5. The three suspects were charged with federal charges of conspiracy to commit kidnapping and kidnapping, as well as three District Code charges of armed kidnapping, assault with a dangerous weapon and armed robbery.
The alleged incident took place on October 20. Authorities said in court documents that a United States Park Police officer responded to a report of a stabbing that evening around 11:45 p.m. Upon arrival, the officer discovered the two victims; one had several stab wounds to her back, while the other suffered knife wounds to her right wrist. The two victims were lured to another location after being hired for a babysitting assignment. When they got there, the two were stabbed by two people.
The two women were bound with duct tape and held in a bathroom before being taken to another location by a car belonging to one of the victims. Once they arrived, the two were left behind. They escaped and went looking for help.
Police officers were able to find the car and saw that it had bloodstains inside and examined pieces of duct tape on the back seat. They also noticed that the passenger’s front tire was flat.
The names of the victims were not released, but investigators learned that one of them had charged Edwards with a crime in another jurisdiction and was scheduled to appear in court the next day. They also discovered that the girls had been lured to the home by the suspects in a planned attack. Edwards allegedly contacted Bynum and Lee to capture the woman who had accused Edwards of a crime. He has been locked up while awaiting indictment after allegedly preparing to attack his accuser. Officials said Bynum was allegedly the one who attacked the victims with a knife.
