Dimitar Dimitrov and Rishaan Sawant both won bronze medals at the WTT Youth Contender Senec in Slovakia.

Both won their groups in the Under-13 Boys’ Singles with three wins out of three, with Sawant beating third seed Taavi Samaraweera of Sri Lanka in three straight wins. Dimitrov, seeded second, did not drop a game in his group.

After winning the last sixteen matches 3-0, both boys won the tight quarter-finals 3-2.

But they were unable to secure a place in the final as both lost their semi-finals in four, Sawant to top seed Filip Nagy of the host country and Dimitrov to fourth seed Marcos Gomez of Spain. Gomez defeated Nagy in the final 3-0 (17-15, 12-10, 12-10).

Elsewhere in the competition, Max Radiven had some good wins in the Under-17s, reaching the last 16 by beating the host nation’s higher-ranked Pavol Kokavec in the last 64, coming from 2-0 down to win the third 16-14 on the way to turning the match around.

He followed up by beating seventh seed Jakub Holubcik, also of Slovakia, in the last 32 before departing for another higher-ranked player, Dario Salcedo of Spain.

Kacper Piwowar reached the last 32, losing to fourth seed Adam Wallin of Sweden, while Rohan Dani went out to a Chinese opponent at the same stage.

Aarav Parihar and Theo Kniep went out in the round of 64, while Oscar Nikolli and Jake Davidson went out in the groups. Unranked Kniep defeated world number 239 Junior Erik Paulina of Italy in the group stage.

In the Under-15s, Dimitrov and Nikolli advanced to the round of 64, but Davidson, Parihar and Kniep were eliminated in the groups.

In the Under-19s, Dani is through to the last 64, but Radiven and Piwowar went out in the group stage, although Radiven had a good match before losing 3-0 to top seed Samuel Arpas (11-5, 20-18, 11-9).
