Tucticin: Prime Minister Narendra Modi described the recently engaged free trade agreement between India and the UK on Saturday as “historical” and said that the Pact showed the trust of the world in the country. With regard to Operation Sindoor, he said that weapons were made under the ‘make in India’ initiative a major role during the cross-border military offensive in destroying enemy goals and ensured that enemies lose their sleep. The prime minister inaugurated, laid tribes and dedicated projects worth RS 4,900 crore here and underlined the dedication of the NDA government for the growth of Tamil Nadu.
‘FTA adds pace to our vision’
In his speech after inaugurating the projects, Prime Minister Modi said he was blessed to land directly in Tamil Nadu after completing his foreign tour in which the free trade agreement in India-UK was signed before his visit to the Maldives. The trading pact with Great Britain was ‘historical’. “India and Great Britain have signed a free trade agreement. This shows the growing trust of the world and our self-confidence. We will make Viksit (developed) Bharat and Viksit Tamil Nadu with this self-confidence,” said PM Modi. “FTA with Great Britain adds pace to our vision of Viksit Bharat, Viksit TN,” The Prime Minister, dressed in a traditional Veshti (Dhoti), shirt and an “AngaSastram” worn around the neck, said. He landed here by the Maldives immediately after completing his official tour.
‘Dedicated to the growth of TN’
He promises a developed India and Tamil Nadu, said: “Infrastructure and energy are the backbone of the development of each state, our focus on infrastructure and energy in the past 11 years our dedication shows the growth of TN.” The NDA government has built Atal Sethu, Sonmarg Tunnel, Bogibeel Bridge in various parts of the country and created thousands of vacancies. As for the railways, he said it is the lifeline of industrial growth. The projects he inaugurated on Saturday are related to airport, highways, railways, port and electricity in Tamil Nadu.
Projects launched by PM Modi
The inaugurated projects include a new state-of-the-art Tuticorin Airport Terminal Building, developed at an estimated costs of approximately RS 450 Crore. With regard to rail projects, it includes the electrification of the 90 km Madurai-Bodinayakkanur line, commissioned by RS 99 Crore and the RS 650 Crore that doubles the value of the 21 km Nagcoil Town-Kanniyakumari section. The PM dedicated to the nation, two strategically important highway projects-4-laneing of 50 km Sethiyathope-Cholapuram-piece NH-36, developed at a cost RS 2,350 crore and 6-lanes of the 5.16 km NH-118 Tuticorin Port Road, built at approximately RS 200 Crore. He honored the North Cargo Berthe-III with a freight handling capacity of 6.96 mmtpa in Vo Chidambaranar-Haven established for an amount of RS 285 Crore. Tamil Nadu -Gouverneur Rn Ravi participated in the event. Minister of State Finance Thangam Thenarasu presented a souvenir, a replica of the iconic Valluvar Kottam in Chennai, at the prime minister on the occasion.
