Pinterest is spreading In-app push notifications for teenagersThey are aimed at geting children off their devices during school hours, with British teenagers who now receive these new reports.
As you can see in this example, Pinterest’s Teen Usage prompts are aimed at having students reconsider how they use social apps, including Pinterest, during school hours.
According to Pinterest:
‘Over time for the new school year, Pinterest British teenagers will help in the form of a new in-app test prompt that encourages teenagers to close the company’s app during school hours and eliminate all device reports.“
That seems like a relatively soft approach to supervising healthy user behavior, but the data suggests that it can be an effective means of guaranteeing consciousness.
Pinterest started testing these push reports among American and Canadian students earlier this year and says that more than 1.3 million students in these regions went on the prompt in less than a month.
Who demonstrates its potential value as a means to get children from their phones and to concentrate on school work instead, so Pinterest now wants to expand to more regions.
The UK will be the next cabin of the rank, where Pinterest is ultimately looking for these reports to teenagers in all regions.
Although it has made a small change in presentation for the British market:
‘Teenagers in Canada and the United States welcomed the position, but said the messages read as if they came from a parent or teacher. To give the prompt a peer-to-peer tone, Pinterest has updated the language to be more casual and relatible by sentences such as “viewing?” and “take a break”.“
I am not sure if that will change, but conceptually, based on feedback, that should help improve the reaction to these notes.
And although it may seem like a small element, and something that can be easily ignored, if it even encourages a small number of Pinterest users to reconsider how and when they use the app, that can be an advantage.
This week’s new updates are being rolled out to British teenagers.
