Meanwhile, ASTER continues to bleed.
Most larger-cap altcoins are quite sluggish, with ETH falling to $2,900, while XRP has defended the $1.90 support.
BTC drops to $86K
Recall that just a week ago, before and after the Fed’s decision to cut rates, BTC’s price soared as it challenged $94,500 a few times. However, the subsequent rejections, especially the second one, brought a lot of pain and uncertainty to the asset.
It initially fell to $90,000, but managed to defend that level towards the end of the business week and through most of the weekend. It fell to $88,000 on Sunday but quickly recovered to $90,000.
The landscape changed for the worse Monday afternoon when Bitcoin suddenly fell by more than $4,000 to just over $85,000. The price bounced back to $88,000 yesterday but was stopped there and is now struggling to stay above $86,000.
The market cap has fallen further to $1.720 trillion, while dominance over alts stands at just under 57%.
PI rebounds, ASTER dumps
As mentioned above, the larger cap alts are quite stable on a daily scale, with little to no pyrotechnics. ETH is slightly in the red to just over $2,900, XRP has remained above $1.90 and BNB is at $860. BCH and XMR have seen the most substantial gains, while CC and TAO have fallen the most.
ASTER is again leading on the losing side, with another 8.5% decline in the last 24 hours. PUMP and ENA follow suit. In contrast, NIGHT is up 6%, followed by SKY and PI, both of which are up 4%. Pi Network’s native token fell below $0.20 yesterday, but is now inches above that line.
The total crypto market cap has lost another $30 billion overnight and is on the verge of falling below the $3 trillion level.
