Carlos Alcaraz held his first training session at the Inalpi Arena on Wednesday and started his preparation for the Nitto ATP Finals on site. Alcaraz struck during an evening training together with fellow Turin competitor Taylor Fritz.
The Spaniard is aiming for his first Nitto ATP Finals trophy and tries to end the season as ATP Year-End No.1 presented by PIF. With 67 wins at the top of the season, Alcaraz has added eight titles to his trophy cabinet this year.
Alexander Zverev and Ben Shelton have also arrived in Turin, where they will each hold training at the Inalpi Arena on Wednesday. Defending champion Jannik Sinner and Alex de Minaur were among the hits at Stampa Sporting, the nearby practice location.
Shelton makes his debut at the prestigious year-end event. The 23-year-old American won his biggest career title in August at the ATP Masters 1000 event in Canada, rising to career No. 6. He also reached his second major semifinal at the Australian Open.
Zverev is a two-time Nitto ATP Finals champion, winning the trophy in 2018 and 2021. The German reached his third major final in Melbourne and claimed his 24th tour-level title in Munich in April.
