Phillies wraps anything except NL East Crown with emphatic sweep sweep

The Philadelphia Phillies 6-4 victory on the New York Mets On Thursday evening not only gave them an emphatic four-game Sweep about their division divers, it probably also packed the National League East Championship. With that victory and Sweep, the Phillies have extended their lead in the east to 11 games with only 15 games to play.

The New York Mets needed a sweep to keep their slender division hope

While the Mets still have a Wild-Card Playoff Hoop, their only hope was possible to catch the Phillies in the Divisierace, largely rid of their ability to win all four games in Philadelphia this week. In the worst case, they needed at least three victories in the four games to actually cut in that leadership.

The Mets did not only succeed in winning one match, they were absolutely dominated over the four games and were surpassed with a margin of 27-10.

They were not even competitive, and it was a complete 180 reversal from then the two teams met each other in New York a few weeks ago, where the Mets got their own big sweep on Citi Field. That started to close the gap a bit for the Mets in the Divisional Race and created some hope that they could perhaps play their way in the Divisierace.

Instead, the Mets eventually lost 10 of their next 14 games, including their current Six game Losing Streak.

Philadelphia Phillies touches their pass at the right time

The seasonal injury to Ace Zack Wheeler may seemed like a devastating blow to the Phillies opportunities, but they didn’t really miss a beat and start playing some of their best baseball. Especially since the aforementioned sweep on Citi Field at the end of August.

Since that sweep in the hands of the Mets, the Phillies 11 of their last 14 games have won to really give up between themselves and the Mets. It is a great time for a team to play his best baseball of the season, and at the moment the Phillies are starting to look like a potential Juggernaut in the National League.

Even without Wheeler they still have a few aces at the top of their start rotation with Cristopher Sanchez and Ranger Suarez, a really good bull pen and a powerful line -up led by Kyle Schwarber and Trea Turner.

The play-offs are currently not only a lock for them, the division and a first round bye through the wildcard round also seems to be theirs.
