Jose Quintana has found a new home, just not one that is historically pitcher-friendly.
The 37-year-old left-handed starter has agreed to a deal with the Rockies, ESPN’s Jesse Rogers reports this Tuesday evening.
The terms of the contract, which still requires medical treatment, are not yet known.
Colorado had an active Tuesday, agreeing to a one-year pact with right-hander Tomoyuki Sugano earlier in the day after pitching in Japan last year.
After spending two seasons with the Mets, Quintana joined the Brewers in the middle of spring training for the 2025 season.
He gave the Brewers some stability at the end of the rotation with a 3.96 ERA and 1.291 WHIP over 24 starts and 131 2/3 innings. Quintana pitched in two postseason appearances, a three-inning scoreless effort in relief during the NLDS against the Cubs, before allowing three earned runs in a two-inning start against the eventual World Series champion Dodgers in the NLCS.
Quintana has amassed 113 wins during his first fourteen seasons in the major leagues, the most for a native of Colombia.
At a high altitude (5,000 feet above sea level), Coors Field has long been a haven for hitters and has had the highest park factor in the MLB for the past three seasons. according to Baseball Savant.

In six career appearances at Coors, Quintana has a 5.40 ERA with 33 strikeouts in 42 innings.
It is expected that Quintana will do so pitched for his home country in March as part of the 2026 World Baseball Classic before taking the mound in Denver.
The Rockies are hoping to emerge from the doldrums of the National League after three straight seasons of more than 100 losses, including baseball’s worst of 119 in 2025.
