The Phillies add a former starter just in time for the play -offs.
Walker Buehler, who was recently released by the Red Sox, agreed on Sunday with a Minor League deal with Philadelphia.
He was assigned to Triple-a Lehigh Valley.
He is eligible to play in the late season for the Phillies, who are currently leading the NL East, and will probably win the division, apart from an incredible increase of September by the Mets.
He would participate in a Phillies rotation that Ace Zack Wheeler lost to seasonal thoracic exhaust surgery and sees Aaron Nola Pitch to a 6.27 ERA.
“We are pleased to have him because we think he is making us better,” said Phillies President Dave Dombrowski, according to the AP. “We try to do everything we can to be eligible for the late season and then, if we make it, do everything we can to win.”
Buehler, a former striking Dodgers, won two World Series with the franchise in 2020 and in 2024 and played an important role for both teams.
The 31-year-old Righty placed a 1.80 ERA in five late season starts for the Dodgers on the way to their 2020 title and a 3.60 ERA last postseason over four performances included three starts.
Since the debut with the Dodgers in 2017, he has collected several 200-plus Strikeout seasons and was an All-Star in 2019 and 2021.
In the regular season 2025, Buehler saw a 5.45 -ERA on 22 starts, with 84 strikeouts in 112 ā threw innings, while retaining a 1.56 Whip.

“We think we see some things that can hopefully help him,” Dombrowski said about Buehler. “He is willing to work with us.”
He signed a $ 21 million contract in the low season with the Red Sox.
