Philadelphia, Pa – there used to be certain things in life that were a given: death, taxes and the Philadelphia -Flyers who draw up a center. It took some time, but the flyers went back to their roots at the NHL entry by selecting three centers last year and taking a center this year with one of their first two round picks. The flyers had an urgent need to abolish for size. The flyers still need centers that can win on a consistent basis.
Today we look at the top -flyers -prospects from 2025 in the Flyers organization.
Jett Lucanko – A fast center with the Guelph Storm (OHL). Nobody will wussen his songs despite back-to-back 20+ goal seasons. He has a chance to make the parent club, but we expect that Lucanko will start the season in the AHL for at least half a season and should be a call in the late season.
Jack Berglund – Due to the Week Talent Pool in the Flyers system, it was not a shock to see that all trenches from last year were already at the top of the Flyers system for centers. The Swedish center has a good size 6 ‘4’. His numbers will not come from the page during the regular season, but he quickly focused on the U-20 tournament this year where he scored eight goals, 14 assists and 22 points in 15 games. In a franchise looking for size, fits are the bill.
Jack Nesbitt – The flyers went up in this year’s design to largely select Nesbitt, not meaning puncture, because of his 6 ‘4’ frame. A franchise thin in the middle position, Philly thought he was worth to go for it. Expect to spend at least two seasons at Windsor before he saw time in the AHL.
Heikki Ruohonen – According to Elite Prospects.com, the reconnaissance report on Heikki Ruohonen is that he is a “two-way center that plays, the pace pushes and what Power Forward has. He uses explosive weight shifts to defend defenders in the inside. Outwork opponents for body position and contact.” The USHL Prospect had a solid season for Dubuque with 16 goals and 23 assists. Eventually he goes to Harvard in the NCAA. He served as a captain of Kiekko-Opevles during the 2023–24 season.
Cole Knuble – The son of former Flyer Mike Knuble, Cole had a solid season with Notre Dame, but unless he can show a scoring touch, he is desirable as a potential lower six forward. Expect he will play at Notre Dame for at least one season before he becomes pro.
