Seven -time Mr. Olympia Phil Heath always showed up on stage with huge triceps and in a recent Instagram video the man they call ‘the gift’ shared his hacks for the right Triceps-Pushdowns.
Few muscle men have ever turned triceps like Phil Heath upside down, so it is a type of “money cannot buy”, so getting a better understanding of how the bodybuilding icon has built. Fortunately, the Olympia often shares its tips for free via social media, so that you can replicate his repetitions.
Advantages of triceps pushdown exercise for building mass
Triceps -Pushdowns, often referred to as ‘triceps pulldowns’ are an insulation exercise that focuses on the medial head (near the elbow) and lateral head (in the middle) of the triceps. The side head is the part of the triceps that is often associated with that much coveted horseshoe shape that chases bodybuilders. This makes triceps -pushdowns an excellent choice for building larger arms and they will also improve your strength on other lifts.
Phil Heath’s Triceps Pushdown -Hacks
“Here is an extra advantage for your Tricep -Pulldowns,” Heath shared with his 4.4 million Instagram followers. “And, I know that many of you, myself, admitted when I started doing this for the first time, do you always come down and look at how my elbows flares up?” Heath demonstrated a triceps -pushdown with elbows apart, and noted that there is an instinct to do it in this way when the focus is on spreading the rope apart apart. “Now, here is my challenge for you,” he continued. “Apply these elbows as close as possible.”
In his second variation, Heath brought his arms together so that they practically touches his obliques. “And this is the finish, here,” showed the show-stop bodybuilder. With his arms now together, there is less a tendency to spread the ropes, and more focus on the downward vertical movement. “You can tell a little that if you (your elbows) get closer, you see more here (vertical movement) than if (my elbows) were just here.” This master’s tip is large because a huge aspect of triceps-pushdowns in bending the elbow, and this is raised when the vertical line is straightened, instead of when the elbows were reserved and trying to pull the ropes from side.
“And then, if you want to add a little more diploma to difficulty, you will keep on these last three repetitions for as long as possible,” Heath added. In this demonstration, with the rope now on the bottom of the movement, the gift grabbed the rope and held the weight as long as possible, so that the time element was added under voltage for maximum effect. “Technology and time under tension was great for me,” Heath concluded. And who could argue with that?
