Phil Foden honestly admits that he is Man City’s thrash Palace

Phil Foden admits he was far from his best in the first half of Man City’s dominant victory over Crystal Palace in the Premier League.

The midfielder scored either side of an Erling Haaland goal as City secured a 3-0 win at Selhurst Park on Sunday.

Haaland opened the scoring towards the end of the first half with a header from a Matheus Nunes cross.

Rayan Cherki did a brilliant job before releasing Foden, who drove the ball into the bottom corner in the 69th minute. Haaland grabbed his second late from the penalty spot.

Foden has now scored six goals in his last four Premier League appearances for City, but the England international says he was careless with the ball in the first half. However, he promised there was more to come from him amid great form.

Phil Foden honestly admits that he is Man City’s thrash Palace

“Every time I’ve been here it’s been such a challenge,” he told BBC Match of the Day. “Close game, a lot of doubles have to be won. It’s sloppy at times. The second half was much better than the first and that was the key.”

“Really happy with the goal at the right time. It just made us a bit more relaxed. It was a crucial goal at a crucial time. I’ve been in good form, scoring a lot lately and long may it continue.”

“In the first half I gave away a lot of balls and tried to do too much with them. Against Palace you have to relax and make extra passes. That is the standard I have set for myself and so has the manager.” [Pep Guardiola]. He knows there is more to come from me.”
