Former UFC champion Bantamweight Petr Yan revealed that he fought against Merab Dvalishvili, in the run-up to a likely resit.
UFC Bantamweight title holder Merab Dvalishvili retained his title in largely dominant way against Cory Sandhagen during UFC 320 last Saturday. Although Sandhagen turned out to be a heavy test for the feet, Dvalishvili Sandhagen challenged his enormously improved attack on the way to a decision victory.
After UFC 320, Dvalishvili Petr Yan offered a rematch of their UFC-record-breaking fight in 2023. Dvalishvili achieved a record number of successful Takedowns on the way to a crooked victory.
Yan has won three consecutive fights since that fight, including most recently against Marcus Mcghee at UFC Abu Dhabi. While Yan makes a strong plea to turn it back with Dvalishvili, the former title defender

During a recent appearance The Ariel Helwani showYan revealed that he had a significant physical disadvantage during his first fight with Dvalishvili.
“I waited for this opportunity and I am ready to fight in December. I believe it will be a great fight. The last time I was compromised, I was 50 percent,” Yan said.
“If you only look at the statistics, you see that I only used my right hand 3 to 4 times. I could not hit my right hand. I could not use it to defend the wrestling, those are only facts. If you compare it to my other fights, that is the hand that I used the most.”
“I can’t say that I don’t regret (fighting), but at least I have the chance to win the resit.”
Dvalishvili defeated Cory Sandhagen last Saturday with unanimity during UFC 320. During his reign, he defeated Umar Nurmagomedov and Sean O’Malley in the title defense.
Yan has a well -completed skills that Dvalishvili could cause problems with a possible resit. But stopping the wild pace and the pressure of Dvalishvili will be difficult to handle for the former UFC champion.
