Pete Alonso put his place in Mets History on Tuesday, and Gary Cohen interrupted the moment by describing it as “The polar bear on his own private IJsberg” during his historic home run call on Sny.
Alonso surpassed Darryl Strawberry with his franchise record 253rd Thuis Run during the match on Tuesday evening against the Braves in Citi Field.
“It’s gone here, gone here!” Cohen, the TV-play-by-play-man of the Mets, called the ball over the field fence over the law. “Pete Alonso stands on its own. The polar bear on his own private IJsberg. Pete Alonso, the most productive home run hitter in the history of New York Mets.”

The Citi Field -public roared when Alonso celebrated the milestone and waved to the fans after he embraced Brandon Nimmo and Jeff McNeil.
The Sny broadcasters left the moment to play with the audience who made the conversation after Cohen’s first call.
On the radio, Keith Raad was on the microphone when Alonso hit his third inning Homer to put the Mets 5-1.
“It’s gone! A rocket in the right midfield,” said Council. “A two-run home run and history. Number 253 for Pete Alonso. Everything only as a franchise leader in Thuis Runs.”
Omroep Howie Rose has been synonymous with some of the biggest moments of the franchise, but was not on the call on Tuesday.
In a message on X he praised RadioBelel.
“This one is beautiful with much more. I am very happy that he has this piece of Mets -broadcast history,” Rose wrote.
