Perodua Traz teased again: Toyota Yaris Cross-based B-segment SUV to be launched in Malaysia tomorrow at 11am – paultan.org

Another teaser has been released by Perodua for its upcoming model, which the national automaker says is just one day away from its debut. As with the previous teaser, the crossover codenamed D66B, expected to be called the Traz, is shown in shadows, this time with a view of the side profile.

Much of its basic shape will resemble the Toyota Yaris Cross that has been available in the Indonesian and Thai markets since 2023, albeit with detail differences that will distinguish the Perodua from its Toyota cousin.

2023 Toyota Yaris Cross, Thai market

For reference, the Yaris Cross in Indonesia gets a 2NR-VE 1.5-liter naturally aspirated four-cylinder petrol engine that produces 106 hp and 138 Nm, paired with a five-speed manual gearbox or a CVT for that market. In Thailand, the B-SUV gets a hybrid powertrain that combines a 2NR-VEX 1.5 liter NA four-cylinder 91 hp/121 Nm with an e-motor of 80 hp/141 Nm for a combined power of 111 hp.

There is a lot shared between the Traz and the Toyota Yaris Cross, with the latter achieving a five-star ASEAN NCAP rating in August this year. Due to its positioning above the Ativa, the price can be expected to be higher than the starting price of RM62,500 for that model, which could go up to RM73,400 for the two-tone paint option of the AV variant. Pricing and more about the Perodua Traz will be revealed when it launches tomorrow.
