Penguins send two to baby pens

The Penguins personnel carousel continued to turn on Sunday as the team assigned two forwards to the Baby Pens. One of them was a bit of a surprise. The other? Maybe not so much.

In the last category, veteran Danton Heinen was transferred to Wilkes, where he started the season. The Langley, BC native led the AHL in scoring at the time of his recall to the Pens on November 4. However, the offensive surge did not carry over to his time here (a lone assist in nine games).

Oddly enough, its underlying numbers? Fantastic. Heinen leads the Pens in Corsi (58.19) and Expected Goals Percentage (59.66), is second in Scoring Chances for Percentage (60) and Risky Chances for Percentage (61.11), and third in Shots for Percentage (55.26).

He also seemed faster and more involved to me. Unfortunately, on the scoreboard where the rubber meets the road… or ice?

Zipper.

As for the surprise? Tristan Broz (pictured) returned to Baby Pens after making his NHL debut and then sitting out the last two, which made absolutely no sense to me. Not this relegation either, unless…

…the pens regain a few leads from IR.

While nothing has been formally announced at this point, it could be possible Justin Brazeau And Rickard Rakell ready to return to the lineup?

Certainly hope so.

Stay informed.
