Although much of the focus on the victory of the Detroit Lions on the Baltimore Ravens had been in the battle of the ravens on Monday evening in the trenches, there was a historic evening for Lions Right Tackle Penei Sewell.
Sewell did indeed set a PFF record with the highest single game PFF degree through an attacking lineman in pff history, in addition to the highest pff-runblock figure with one game of each player with 10 or more run blocking snaps in a game.
On the field for 37 Runblocking Snaps, Sewell earned a 99.3 Pff Run blocking degree, so Tony Richardson’s week 13 outing for the Minnesota VIKINGEN – Ironically, who came across the Detroit Lions.
Highest PFF-Run blocking figures, 2006-2025 (at least 10 Run blocking Snaps)
| Position | Player | Team | Figure | Game | Snap count |
| T | Penei Sewell | Detroit Lions | 99.3 | Week 3, 2025 | 37 |
| Fb | Tony Richardson | Minnesota Vikings | 99.1 | Week 13, 2007 | 12 |
| The | Casey Fitzsimmons | Detroit Lions | 98.0 | Week 9, 2009 | 10 |
| G | Charlie Johnson | Indianapolis Colts | 97.8 | Week 3, 2008 | 18 |
The most impressive part of it is also the sample size. All others in the top four did this on less than half of the snaps where Sewell was on the field as a Runblocker, which means that their strongly graded plays would rather shake the total figures.
Likewise, Sewell’s 98.7 General PFF quality in the game was the highest ever for an attacking lineman, who defeated the 98.4 pff marking of Andrew Whitworth for the Cincinnati Bengal back in week 15 of the 2010 season. That game from Whitworth saw him this week posting a higher PFF pass blocker than Sewell, but the Lions star is awarded him thanks to that dominant Runblocking figure.

How he got the grade
So how does someone secure a 99.3 Pff Run-Blocking figure in one game? Well, to begin with, he received a positive figure on 15 of 37 Run Blocking snaps, compared to a negative figure on just five of those plays. For the context, no other attacking tackle generated more than eight positive graduated plays such as Runblocker this week.
It was also the way Sewell delivered those blocks. The Lions star recorded five blocks that earned a +1 pff figure, three more than any other attacking tackle this week. Such a block came to one of the largest plays of the night-one 72-yard run by Lions who run back David Montgomery.
See how good Sewell Ravens Linebacker Roquan Smith blocks on the second level and completely removes the former All-Pro.
In the same week that Isaiah Rodgers saw, established a record for the highest single game rating in the PFF history, do not sleep on what a historic night in the trenches was for Penei Sewell.
