That’s not surprising considering Pebble Beach won eight elite-level races at two and three levels, including the 2022 North America Cup and Breeders Crown, earned nearly $2 million in prize money and posted a lifetime score of 1:48.2. He was the overwhelming choice as the American and Canadian 3YO Pacing Colt of the Year.
His trainer Noel Daley said: “He’s the most correct yearling I’ve ever bought. He’s not a big horse, 15.2, but he’s just right in type. A fantastic looking horse.”
“He ran great, didn’t wear a boot and just had poor speed with several 25 and 15 minute changes under his belt.”
Moreover, Pebble Beach is not only the best son of budding young bull Down by the sea but the richest grandson of the great Somewhere on the beach.
Pebble Beach belongs to one of the fastest moving families in the American studbook. His mother, Santa Rosa (by Western Ideal), produced four winners under 1:55 from five foals. Santa Rosa, in turn, is a sister to world champion and four-time Grade 1 winner Vintage Master ($2.1 million) and a member of the same family as Hall of Fame racemare Silk Stockings and world champion May Wine.
In his first season at the breeding farm ‘down under’, 94 foals are offered from Pebble Beach, 22 of which are on the Australian Pacing Gold Sales including five at the Melbourne auction at Oaklands Junction on Sunday 15 February.
