Peace Of Heaven Holds Back Unfortunate Sea Salt In Pot Of Gold Finale

The improved gelding Peace of Heaven (Rock N Roll heaven) won his most important running race when he competed in the Kevin and Kay Seymour Pot of Gold Final at Globe Derby on Saturday night.

Driver Danielle Hill certainly made the right choice when she drove both heat winners Peace of Heaven and Sea Salt a week ago and due to the favorable draw she opted for Peace of Heaven as Sea Salt was awkwardly pulled from the inside of the second row.

It was an action-packed event from the start, with Clarendon Tribute taking an early lead, but then a lightning move from Magic Storm from behind saw them nap the field and take a clear lead.

A lap and a half from home, Hill made her move and Peace Of Heaven sprinted around the field to sit outside Magic Storm. Meanwhile, Sea Storm was locked in zipper four at the back of the tracks.

Peace of Heaven quickly gained the upper hand over Magic Storm, racing away for a winning lead at the top of the straight. Sea Salt encountered interference while trying to maneuver for a clear run. When she saw daylight, she flew home to descend just over a meter to Peace Of Heaven with Buzz Bomb in third. Peace Of Heaven rated 1.58.2 for the 2230 meter journey.

PEACE OF HEAVEN FEB 7 REPEAT

Peace Of Heaven was previously prepared by David Waite in Sydney before moving to Ryan Hryhorec’s stables in November and he has now been at Globe Derby for six of his last eight starts and clearly appreciates the weaker company.

He is played by prominent owner Mick Boots who also achieved success at Menangle in the evening with Still Rollin and Hi Manarijderff.

Peace Of Heaven is out of the Mach Three mare Supreme Belle and she also has the well-traveled but successful Rum Delight (1.54.7 and 35 wins) and Escobar (1.56.2 and 8 wins).

Without taking anything away from the winner, second place Sea Salt was desperately unlucky and everywhere she went during the run she was denied a free pass. There is probably little doubt that with a flawless run she would have won the race. Sea Salt is racing in great form for her trainer and co-owner Tyson Linke and she will surely make up for it soon.
