The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) will probably not receive “formal clarification” from the ICC on the observed snub during the final ceremony of the Champions Trophy in Dubai. India defeated New -Zeeland with four wickets in the title conflict on Sunday to win the tournament for the third time. The controversy broke out when Sumair Ahmed, who is Chief Operating Officer of the PCB and the tournament director of the Champions Trophy, was not invited to the last presentation. “We have filed a formal complaint to the ICC, because what happened is unacceptable to us,” said a PCB officer Tuesday.

However, according to ICC sources, the PCB does not get a formal explanation. “If the PCB mandar lines look up, even ICC CEO Geoff Allardice was not present on stage. The reason is protocol,” said the ICC source.

“Sumair Ahmed is an employee of the PCB and not an office carrier. Also check when a tournament director is on stage for presentation?” We can give an example. ICC’s new head of operations and communication Gurav Saxena was once tournament director for Asia Cup in Dubai. He was on stage for the last presentation, “said an ICC source.

BCCI president Roger Binny presented the white coats to India players and the medals to match officials, while ICC chairman Jay Shah handed over the trophy to skipper Rohit Sharma and gave the medals to the winners.

BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia and CEO of New -Zeelandse Cricket Roger Twose were also present on stage. It must be stated that Saikia is BCCI director of ICC Board and Binny is the alternative director.

“The reasons that are not given our COO and tournament director for the final presentation do not feel like us. We are waiting for a formal clarification/apology,” said the PCB officer.

“We are shocked by this blatant contempt for the role of Pakistan as a host country,” said the civil servant.

“Statements give that ICC invites only CEOs, presidents, vice-chairman or secretaries for the ceremony, is illogical. We want full public clarification and a certainty that such a biased and unjust treatment will no longer happen or we will go to the Board of Directors,” he added.
