Passenger vehicles wholesale were at 3,52,921 units in August 2024.
The sale of passenger vehicles saw a dip mainly as a result of again calibration of shipments by manufacturers, said the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) employee Rajesh Menon in a statement on Monday.
The question fell in August because customers postponed purchases pending the GST rate rate and the reduction of vehicle prices.
Two-wheeler shipments, however, rose by 7 percent last month to 18.33.921 units, compared to 17.11,662 units in the period from a year ago.
The sale of scooter rose by 13 percent on an annual basis to 6.83.397 units in August, while motorcycling rose by 4 percent to 11.06.638 units last month. Three-Wheeler shipments saw the highest shipping ever for the month of August by 75,759 units, an increase of 8 per cent years, compared to 69.962 units in August last year. Rates on vehicles will go a long way in making broader access to mobility possible and injecting new Momentum into the Indian car sector in the coming party season.
With effect from September 22, gasoline and diesel cars with motorcycle capacities up to 1,200 cc and 1500 cc 18 percent will attract 18 percent, while they will attract the highest 40 percent above.
Electric vehicles will build up 5 percent.
